Our tools deal with sensitive subjects, so we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Discrimination Navigator collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our website, application, and related tools and services (together, the “Services”). It works together with our Terms of Use and Disclaimers.

2.1 Information you give us

Your name and email address when you create an account, ask us to email you a result, request a free guide, or contact us, along with the contents of messages you send us.

2.2 Purchase information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card number. We receive limited transaction information, such as the product purchased, the amount, the date, and confirmation of payment, which we use to fulfill and support your order.

2.3 What you enter into our tools

When you use the charge wizard or the deadline calculator you may enter detailed information about your employment situation. Depending on what you choose to share, that may include information revealing sensitive characteristics such as your race, color, sex, age, disability, religion, national origin, genetic information, or pregnancy, along with your account of what happened at work.

You decide what to enter, and you control whether and when you submit anything to the EEOC or to anyone else. If you sign a charge in the app, we store an unaltered snapshot of the document you signed and the date and time you signed it. That record exists so there is evidence of exactly what you wrote and when.

2.4 Information collected automatically

When you use the Services we and our providers may automatically collect technical and usage information, such as your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits.

3. Sensitive information

Because of what our tools are for, you may choose to give us sensitive personal information. We use it only to provide the Services to you.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with your employer. We do not submit anything to the EEOC, your employer, or any court on your behalf.

4. How we use your information

To provide, operate, and maintain the Services; to process your purchases and deliver your products; to send transactional messages such as sign-in links, order confirmations, and support replies; to answer your questions; to send updates or marketing email where you have asked for it, which you can stop at any time; to improve and secure the Services and prevent fraud; and to comply with our legal obligations.

5. How we share your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only in these limited circumstances.

Service providers. We use trusted third parties to operate the Services, including a payment processor, a hosting provider, a database provider, and an email delivery provider. They may access personal information only to perform services for us and are required to keep it confidential.

Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with legal process, protect our rights, or protect the safety of any person.

Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

6. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Services, remember your preferences, and keep your session working. You can control or disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work properly if you do.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services, fulfill the purposes described here, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Your saved work is protected so that only your own account can reach it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, and opt out of marketing. To exercise any of these, email contact@discriminationnavigator.com. We will respond as required by applicable law. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under your state's privacy laws, and we will honor those where they apply.

10. Marketing email

If you have signed up for updates you can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in any such email, or by contacting us. We will still send non-marketing messages related to your account or purchases.

11. Children

The Services are intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Where your information is processed

We are based in the United States and the Services are operated and hosted in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live.

13. Third-party links

The Services link to third-party websites and resources, including government agencies such as the EEOC. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and encourage you to read their policies.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will update the effective date and may give additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after the changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
